Acupuncture for Fertility
I felt compelled to write this quick blog post because of the numerous conversations I’ve had about fertility. Especially for my readers who are over the age of 35 and trying to conceive, this topic will be very interesting to you.
I’ve experienced acupuncture a number of times but the first time was to help conceive my baby boy who is now 2.5 years old. My husband and I had been trying for a few months to no avail so I started to do some research. I came across the traditional Chinese practice, grabbed a group-on for it and went to my first appointment.
So, to give you a quick breakdown of how acupuncture works. Small, super thin needles puncture the skin and trigger specific points of the body to stimulate blood flow to that area. It helps to boost blood flow to reproductive organs & balances out
I was surprisingly shocked at how much the needles did not hurt like I thought they would. It was definitely a relaxing 30 minutes. The experience for me was intense at times. I could literally feel the needles at work. Again, in a relaxing way.
I would make 2 acupuncture appointments per week focusing on the same areas. After 30 days I found out I was pregnant with my first son. I was in total shock because I didn’t think it would work so quickly. I will also leave a list of the vitamins I took throughout the process. However I feel the acupuncture appointments is what sealed the deal 😉
List of vitamins:
- Prenatal vitamins
- Zinc ( hubby took one each day as well)
- Evening Primrose Oil
- Vitamin C
Incase you’re thinking this is a fluke – don’t worry, I kind of did too the first time. But what if I told you we conceived our second son using the same method and in the same time frame. 1 month of acupuncture appointments and I found out I was pregnant.
For those who do not have insurance to cover their acupuncture appointments, check out GroupOn and find an acupuncturist near you.
Happy Baby Making xoxo
